New Mexico Asphalt & Driveway Sealing Services
Asphalt Sealing Services in New Mexico
Asphalt is by far one of the most common type of surfaces in our civilization today. What most people don’t know is that asphalt is made up of various types of rock (ranging from the size of sand, up to small pebbles), held together with a petroleum based binding agent – known simply as asphalt cement. With the seasonal changes to weather in New Mexico, the asphalt, is constantly in a state of flux, expanding on contracting depending on the temperature. This causes the asphalt to change color as it begins to degrade, split, and develop potholes. It is important to protect this surface by applying a seal coating, which acts as a shield against these damages.
With having one of the best-rated New Mexico asphalt and driveway sealing services in the area, Northern Paving understands how annoying it can be when you have to repave. It takes time you don’t have, and money you don’t want to spend. However, a biennial re-application of a seal coat to a new or existing surface will help reinvigorate it, turning the asphalt back to its original black color and initial sturdiness.
Seal coating is an inexpensive way to extend the life of your driveway, parking lot or roadway. Northern Paving knows the land of New Mexico, so our services are one of the leading driveway sealing contenders in the state who knows how to save your asphalt. Our professionals use a special mix of emulsified asphalt, water and protective mineral fillers applied in a thin layer over your existing surface to enhance and rejuvenate said driving surface. This non-toxic mixture helps protect the asphalt from water, oils, and ultraviolet (U.V.) damage – much like an application of sunscreen. Our expert technicians can also apply waterproofing sealant to other surfaces, including concrete – which is just a susceptible to developing cracks, or potholes as asphalt.
Asphalt Coating Requirements
Note: asphalt and driveway sealing services from Northern Paving is dependent on the following:
- Sealer cannot be applied during rainy or wet weather, or when rain is anticipated within eight hours after application of a seal coat is completed.
- A seal coat cannot be applied to hot surfaces (over 90F°), without first cooling the surface with clean water. This is also necessary as it will clear the area of any debris that is on the surface.
- A seal coat cannot be applied to cold surfaces (lower than 40F°), as it will not be able to dry.
- Traffic should be deferred from a freshly coated surface for 18 to 36 hours to allow the seal coat to dry.
Of course, it’s not just new asphalt that needs to be seal coated! Existing asphalt surfaces need to have a re-application of a seal coating layer on a regular basis to prevent extensive cracking and expansion of potholes. A new seal coat will also reinvigorate your asphalt surface, making it look dark black again — just like when it was new!
Because asphalt sealcoating services are inexpensive — pennies per square foot compared to the many hundreds of dollars it can cost to repair or replace damaged asphalt driveways, parking lots and paths — it makes sense to protect your new and existing surfaces with this type of service!
