Asphalt Sealing Company in New Mexico
Asphalt is by far one of the most common type of surfaces in our civilization today. What most people don’t know is that asphalt is made up of various types of rock (ranging from the size of sand, up to small pebbles), held together with a petroleum based binding agent – known simply as asphalt cement. With the seasonal changes to weather in New Mexico, the asphalt, is constantly in a state of flux, expanding on contracting depending on the temperature. This causes the asphalt to change color as it begins to degrade, split, and develop pot-holes. It is important to protect the asphalt by applying a seal coating, which acts as a shield against these damages.
As one of the most experienced driveway sealing companies in the area, Northern Paving understands how annoying it can when you have to have your property repaved. It takes time you don’t have, and money you don’t want to spend. However, a biennial re-application of a seal coat to a new or existing surface will help reinvigorate it, turning it back the asphalt back to its original black color, and helping save you money in the long run.
Seal coating is an inexpensive way to extend the life of your driveway, or lot. Northern Paving knows New Mexico, and as one of the leading driveway sealing companies in the area, we use a special mix of emulsified asphalt, water and protective mineral fillers applied in a thin layer over your existing surface. This non-toxic mixture helps protect the asphalt from water, oils, and ultraviolet (U.V.) damage – much like an application of sunscreen. Our expert technicians can also apply waterproofing sealant to other surfaces, including concrete – which is just a susceptible to developing cracks, or potholes as asphalt.
Asphalt Coating Requirements
Note: driveway sealing by companies such as Northern Paving is dependent on the following:
- Sealer cannot be applied during rainy or wet weather, or when rain is anticipated within eight hours after application of a seal coat is completed.
- A seal coat cannot be applied to hot surfaces (over 90F°), without first cooling the surface with clean water. This is also necessary as it will clear the area of any debris that is on the surface.
- A seal coat cannot be applied to cold surfaces (lower than 40F°), as it will not be able to dry.
- Traffic should be deferred from a freshly coated surface for 18 to 36 hours to allow the seal coat to dry.
Of course, it’s not just new asphalt that needs to be seal coated. Existing asphalt surfaces need to have a re-application of seal coating on a regular basis to prevent cracking and potholes. A new seal coat will also reinvigorate your asphalt surface, making it look dark black again — just like when it was new!
Because asphalt sealcoating is inexpensive — pennies per square foot, compared to the many hundreds of dollars it can cost to repair or replace damaged asphalt driveways, parking lots and paths — it makes sense to protect your new and existing surfaces.
Whether it’s a residential, or commercial property, the Northern Paving is one of the most versatile driveway sealing companies in New Mexico, and we are ready to tackle any driveway, or asphalt sealing job you have for us.
